Brendan Williams '06

Brendan A. Williams '06, the son of R. Kay Tolle and Wendell S. Williams and younger brother of Meredith B. Williams, was born on October 28th, 1983 in Takoma Park, Maryland.  Growing up in DC metropolitan area, Brendan attended Sidwell Friends School where he ran Varsity Cross Country and was Captain of the Varsity Track and Field and Basketball Teams.  At Sidwell, Brendan also tutored middle school students in math and science and helped to start the Financial Student Union, a club for business enthusiasts whose fundraising efforts provided donations to the Jelleff Boys and Girls Club of Washington, DC.

At Princeton, Brendan studied Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Pre-medical Sciences and competed in the 200m and 400m events for the Varsity Track and Field team.  He was a member of the Cap and Gown Club and a Resident Advisor in Forbes College.  Brendan also continued his passion for volunteerism and teaching while at Princeton through his participation in numerous Student Volunteers Council educational initiatives and Princeton University Preparatory Program.

Brendan is currently completing his Medical Degree at Columbia University - College of Physicians and Surgeons where he is studying to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon.  During the summer between his 1st and 2nd years, Brendan was the proud recipient of ReachOut-56 funding to support his participation in a Global Health Educational and Volunteerism program in Quito, Ecuador.  Brendan recently completed a year of dedicated research in the field of Pediatric Orthopaedics, studying novel surgical techniques and surgical outcomes in pediatric scoliosis.  He has also remained involved in education throughout medical school both as a tutor in the New York City area and a teacher and mentor in the State Pre-College Enrichment Program at Columbia University.
